What it is
Dennis Owens started The Good Foot! on 11 September 1998, at Que Sera. About eighty people came. It ran there every month for thirteen years, went dark in 2011, spent two years as a pop-up, and came back in September 2013 at Alex’s Bar — every third Friday ever since.
It takes its name from the James Brown song. The policy has never really changed: soul and funk, played off original 45s, by people who dig for them. Over the years the crates have widened to take in latin, afrobeat, disco, cumbia and brazilian records from the sixties through the eighties — but it is still vinyl, and it is still a dance floor first.

Three to four hundred people come through the door most months. Doors at eight, 21 and over. The regular third Friday is free; live music nights and some of the specials carry a cover. Most months bring a guest DJ alongside the four residents.

- 21 and over, ID required.
- Cover
- The regular third Friday is free, and the Christmas party on the 25th is always free. Live music nights and some specials — Halloween among them — carry a cover. The flyer for the night always says which.
- Food
- PizzaFIK is outside every month. Their pizza is worth coming for on its own.
